Five Texas Rangers have advanced to the next round of All-Star Game voting, putting them in position to compete for starting spots for the American League.

Voting ended on Thursday morning. The top two vote-getters at each position — along with the top six vote-getters in the outfield — move on to the second round of voting to determine All-Star Game starters.

The Rangers that advanced are second baseman Marcus Semien, shortstop Corey Seager, third baseman Josh Jung, catcher Jonah Heim and right fielder Adolis García.

Semien, Seager and Jung were in the top two at their positions when the latest voting results were released on Tuesday. Heim was third and García was seventh.

With the second round of voting, the starters will be decided. As the leading vote-getter for all AL players, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels is already a starter at designated hitter.

Heim and Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman will be the candidates for starting catcher.

The other infielders will all compete with Toronto Blue Jays for starting nods. Semien will go against Whit Merrifield, Seager is pitted with Bo Bichette and Jung is up against Matt Chapman.

García is part of a group of six outfielders that will compete for three starting spots. That group includes the New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge, Angels’ Mike Trout, Tampa Bay’s Randy Arozarena, Houston Astros’ Yordan Alvarez and Toronto’s Kevin Kiermaier.

The remaining Rangers who were on the ballot but did not advance were designated hitter Robbie Grossman, first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, outfielder Ezequiel Duran and outfielder Leody Taveras.

The All-Star Game will be played on July 11 in Seattle.
