Texas Rangers right fielder Adolis García is in the starting lineup for Friday’s game with the Los Angeles Dodgers, one of two injury updates manager Bruce Bochy gave provided on Friday.

García was removed from Wednesday’s game after his forearm was hit by a pitch delivered by Tampa Bay’s Kevin Kelly. His X-rays were negative.

Bochy said during pre-game that he checked with García before putting him in the starting lineup and the right fielder said he was good to go.

He’s batting .259 with 24 home runs and 80 RBI entering the series.

As for Gray, he threw a bullpen session on Friday, two days after his left shin was hit on a comebacker from Tampa Bay’s Yandy Díaz. Gray was in obvious pain and was removed from the game in the fifth inning.

His X-rays were negative. Bochy said that he expects Gray to be ready for his next start, which could be either Monday or Tuesday when the Rangers are in Houston to face the Astros.

“As far as I know there’s no question whether he’s going to start or not,” Bochy said. “He’s good to go. We’ll see if something flares up during his bullpen, but he’s fine.”

The Rangers don’t have any other reported injuries, and they have just one player — pitcher Josh Sborz — on the injured list. He is out with right bicep tendinitis and is not eligible to come back until July 27.

The Rangers (58-39) are preparing for a three-games series with the Dodgers. The Rangers are expected to start left-hander Andrew Heaney on Friday.

Bochy did make one flip from the anticipated probable starters. Right-hander Dane Dunning will pitch on Saturday and left-hander Martín Pérez will pitch on Sunday.
