SURPRISE, Ariz. — Corey Seager doesn't know what's next for him, and that's how he prefers it.

The Texas Rangers slugger had surgery to repair a sports hernia on Jan. 30 and is expected to miss most of spring training.

He's not sure if he'll be back for Opening Day or when he'll start swinging a bat again or taking ground balls. He knows nothing and likes it.

"I have no idea. I would like to say yes, but I don't know. I try not to know what's next. I always wait for them to tell me what I can do," said Seager, the Rangers World Series MVP shortstop. "I truly try not to know. It just makes it easier."

That's because Seager is already antsy about his situation.

"100%. If they give me a day, I'm gonna be [expecting to go] on that day, and if it's not that day, that's aggravating," he said. "So I just try to wait for when they tell me I can do something, to do it as best I can."

The injury started causing Seager discomfort during the regular season and continued throughout the postseason.

"Just discomfort, never really hurt, rotating, but running and moving around, that's when it really bothered me. You're not going to stop playing. Wrong time to," Seager said of the postseason. "It just never got better. It's just really unfortunate. I'm definitely not happy with the situation."

Seager, 29, was cleared to start incline walking, riding stationary bikes, and other low-impact cardio workouts.

"So it's positive," he said. "Get healthy and try not to get antsy and try to be ready as best possible."
