Rangers Prospect Moves Up Top 100 Rankings After Huge April

Evan Carter is the top prospect of the Texas Rangers organization and now he's nearing the top in all of baseball.

Evan Carter isn’t just the Texas Rangers Minor League Player of the Month for April. He’s moving up in the Baseball America Top 100 prospects list, too.

Thanks to Carter’s exceptional April, he moved up from No. 22 to No. 11 in the publication’s prospect rankings for May.

Per Baseball America:

Entering the year, the biggest question revolving around Carter was whether he’d develop power to go along with his excellent command of the strike zone. So far, the results are positive. His exit velocities are up, and he’s taking advantage of the hitter-friendly environs of the Texas League.

Carter, who is playing for the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders, is coming off an exceptional month. The 20-year-old outfielder batted .343/.500/.543/1.043 (24-for-70) with four home runs and 20 RBI in 18 games.

He completed April ranked among Texas League leaders in walks (1st, 21), RBI (4th, 20), OPS (5th, 1.043), home runs (T8th, 4) and hits (T9th 24). He reached base safely in 17 of 18 games, including 8 multi-hit efforts.

He’s been on an ascendant track since last season when he was named both the 2022 Tom Grieve Minor League Player of the Year and named Baseball America’s Top Rangers prospect. He also won a minor league gold glove.

Last season he played for High Class-A Hickory and Frisco and batted .295/.397/.489/.886 in 106 games (117-for-397), with 86 runs, 21 doubles, 10 triples, 12 home runs and 73 RBI.

The other Rangers prospect in the Baseball America Top 100 include pitcher Owen White, who is No. 56 and pitching for Frisco.
