The career of Texas Rangers prospect Sebastian Walcott is underway in the Dominican Summer League.

According to MLB.com, he is the Rookie League prospect the Rangers will be keeping an eye on this summer.

Walcott, 17, was the No. 8 international prospect when the Rangers signed him in January. He was one of 17 international players the organization signed. When he was just 16 years old, Walcott was drawing comparisons to Miami Marlins’ Jazz Chisholm, who is also from the Bahamas.

Walcott had been training at the Elite International Academy.

Per MLB.com:

Some scouts believe that (Walcott) could become the best player ever to come out of the Bahamas. Signed for $3.2 million in January, he's a projectable 6-foot-4 athlete with 30-homer upside and well-above-average arm strength.

Walcott is playing for the Rangers Blue team in the DSL. Through the first four games of the season, he’s slashing .214/.421/.357/.778. He hasn’t hit a home run, but he’s driven in a run, drawn five walks, stole two bases and scored a run.

Walcott and the rest of the Blues pick up action on Monday against the DSL Rockies.

MLB.com put the list together, which features one prospect for each team from their rookie league teams in the Arizona Complex League, the Florida Complex League and the Dominican Summer League.
