ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers are introducing top draft pick Wyatt Langford at a 2 p.m. Tuesday press conference.

Langford, who the Rangers selected with the fourth overall pick on July 9, is expected to sign for $8 million, according to MLB.com's Jim Callis.

The slotted value for the No. 4 pick was $7,698,000. The $8 million signing bonus would be tied for the fifth-highest in draft history.

Langford, who turns 22 in November, batted .373 with 21 home runs, 28 doubles, 57 RBI, and 83 runs scored in 64 games as a junior for the Florida Gators in 2023.

The Rangers' 17 other draft picks have yet to agree to terms.

MLB clubs have until 4 p.m. July 25, to come to terms with drafted players. If a player has exhausted his collegiate eligibility, he can sign at any time up until one week prior to next year’s draft, per MLB rules.

Langford was a catcher before moving to the outfield in college. Scouts tout his speed as a potential center fielder in the majors. He stole nine bases in 10 attempts in 2023.

Baseball America has already rated Langford as the No. 11 prospect in the game, one spot ahead of the Rangers' outfielder Evan Carter, who turns 21 on Aug. 29. Carter was the 50th overall pick by the Rangers in the 2020 MLB draft out of high school.

Langford was rated the 144th-best prospect by Perfect Game out of Trenton High School (31 miles west of Gainesville, Fla.) in 2020.
