Texas Rangers Prospect Evan Carter Making Splash at Double-A
Texas Rangers No. 1 prospect Evan Carter is already lighting it up in his first week back with the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders.
Carter played his second game with the RoughRiders on Thursday against Springfield. But Riders Field was still buzzing about Carter’s return on Wednesday, his first game since wrapping up an injury rehab assignment with the Arizona Complex League Rangers.
On Wednesday, Carter went 3-for-4 with a triple, home run and two runs scored. He had eight total bases.
He opened that game with the triple and hit the home run in his second at-bat.
On Thursday against Springfield, Carter batted second and played center field. He went 0-for-3, dropping his batting average to .282 with an OPS of 826.
Carter had been out of the Frisco lineup since June 2. First he spent a week on the developmental list and then he was moved to the injured list with wrist soreness. Carter was in Surprise, Ariz., at the Spring Training complex since moving to the developmental list.
While with the ACL Rangers, he played in three games and had two hits, a double and a home run.
Before the injury, Carter slashed .276/.404/.387/.791 with four home runs and 25 RBI in 41 games with the RoughRiders.
He is MLB.com’s No. 9 overall prospect and took over the Rangers’ No. 1 spot from third baseman Josh Jung, who graduated from the rankings early this season.
