ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers lost their third straight games, as the Detroit Tigers hit two home runs and prevailed 7-2 on Monday night at Globe Life Field.

The Rangers (47-31) have also lost six of their last 11 games. The American League West leaders last won Friday at the New York Yankees.

The Tigers (34-43) overcame losing two pitchers in the first two innings due to injury.

Detroit starter Matthew Boyd exited with left elbow discomfort in the first inning and reliever Will Vest left with right knee discomfort in the second.

Marcus Semien hit a solo home run off Boyd in the first inning. But the Rangers were offensively challenged against the Tigers bullpen. They scored their only runs on solo home runs, as Adolis García drilled one in the fourth.

García had a near-miss on a potential three-run home run in the fifth that made it to the warning track. The Rangers also loaded the bases in the ninth with two out for Corey Seager, who flew out to end the game.

The Tigers took advantage of Rangers starter Andrew Heaney, who dropped to 5-5 and was unable to get out of the sixth inning. He gave both two home runs — a three-run shot to Andy Ibáñez in the third and a two-run shot to Jake Rogers in the sixth.

Heaney allowed six hits and three walks while striking out five.

The Rangers and Tigers play again Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Texas starts Martín Pérez (7-3, 4.38). The Tigers have not announced their starter.
