Texas Rangers Must Rely On Veterans To Avoid Long Losing Streaks

If the Texas Rangers want to avoid long spells of losing games, they will need to rely heavily on their most veteran players.
In this story:

The Texas Rangers were brimming with confidence following a season-opening three-game sweep against the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies.

Home runs were flying out of the ballpark. For the most part, pitchers were getting the job done.

It wasn’t perfect but the 3-0 start had everyone giddy.

Then came two frustrating losses to the Baltimore Orioles.

The goal now is to avoid longer losing streaks.

That’s why the team brought in the likes of Jacob deGrom and Corey Seager to provide stability when things begin to go awry.

Texas got rid of manager Chris Woodward and longtime general manager Jon Daniels and brought in manager Bruce Bochy and GM Chris Young for a myriad of reasons.

Losing streaks will happen during the course of a 162-game marathon season.

Bochy is the perfect manager to guide this upstart team through these highs and lows.

Last season, the Rangers won 68 games, count ‘em 68, and sputtered along the way. They were simply a poorly constructed team. The results proved that much.

This version in 2023 looks to be much better. They’re going to lose games. They’re going to endure skids. Even the great teams struggle.

While the two losses to the Orioles were far different than the three wins against the Phillies, the Rangers just look different.

With deGrom, they have an ace capable of halting losing streaks.

This has been five games out of 162 as the Rangers aim to become relevant again.

There’s a different aura this season. In the best way possible.
