Evan Carter In Tonight's Texas Rangers Lineup, Brad Miller Moved to 60-Day IL
The Texas Rangers called up their top prospect Evan Carter from Triple-A Round Rock and placed outfielder Adolis García on the 10-day injured list with a strained patellar tendon.
To make room for Carter on the 40-man roster, the Rangers moved utility player Brad Miller to the 60-day IL.
At 21 years, 10 days old, Carter is the youngest player to debut with the club since Nomar Mazara on April 10, 2016. Mazara was 20 years, 350 days old.
Carter is the youngest U.S.-born player to debut with the Rangers since Dean Palmer on Sept. 1, 1989. Palmer was 20 years, 248 days old.
Carter is rated at the No. 8 MLB prospect by MLB Pipeline. He was batting .288 with 13 homers, 17 doubles, and 67 RBI in 108 minor league games
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said there was no update on Garcia's return.
“We’re hoping to get him before the season ends obviously," he said. "I think we’ll know a little bit more in a couple of days where he is at. We got the best news we thought we could have gotten. That was good to hear. He could be DHing sooner than we think.”
Miller was transferred from the 10-day to the 60-day IL with a left hamstring strain.
