Texas Rangers OF Travis Jankowski Leaves Sunday's Angels Game
Texas Rangers outfielder Travis Jankowski left Sunday’s game at the Los Angeles Angels with right hamstring tightness, per the team.
Jankowski started the game in left field and reached first base on his first at-bat in the bottom of the second on a fielder’s choice bunt. Jankowski advanced to third on a double by Marcus Semien and scored from third base on Robbie Grossman’s sacrifice fly.
But as Jankowski crossed the plate and headed toward the dugout, he appeared to skip a bit as if something might be tight. At the start of the third inning, the Rangers removed him from the game in favor of Josh Smith in left.
Jankowski left the game 0-for-1 with a run scored. Smith hit a two-run home run in the third inning to give the Rangers a 7-3 lead.
This is not the first time this season that Jankowski has left in the middle of the game with what appeared to be an injury. Jankowski left against the Cincinnati Reds on April 26 due to left hip tightness. Jankowski missed one game.
Jankowski entered the game batting .313 with nine RBI. He went 3-for-5 game, drove in two runs and scored in Saturday's 10-1 rout. That three-hit game matched his season-high. He also snapped Jankowski out of a 2-for-17 drought in his last six games.
The Rangers entered Sunday with a 17-7 record with Jankowski in the lineup.
