Texas Rangers Top Prospect Continues Injury Rehab
Texas Rangers No. 1 prospect Evan Carter produced in his second injury rehab game with the Arizona Complex League Rangers on Saturday night.
Carter batted leadoff and was the designated hitter in the ACL Rangers’ 17-6 loss to the ACL White Sox. Carter went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. He hit a home run, a double and drew a walk. He drove in both of his runs on the home run, which came in the seventh inning.
Carter played for the second straight night after he batted leadoff and played center field on Friday. In that game — his first in two weeks — he went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. He also drew a walk and later scored.
Carter has been out of the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders lineup since June 2. First he spent a week on the developmental list and was moved to the injured list with wrist soreness. Carter has been in Surprise, Ariz., the Rangers’ Spring Training Complex, since moving to the developmental list.
With Frisco, Carter slashed .276/.404/.387/.791 with four home runs and 25 RBI in 41 games.
He is MLB.com’s No. 9 overall prospect and took over the Rangers’ No. 1 spot from third baseman Josh Jung, who graduated from the rankings early this season.
