Owen White made his Triple-A debut as a starting pitcher with the Round Rock Express Friday as they hosted the Sacramento River Cats.

The Rangers' No. 2 overall prospect allowed two runs on a hit (a solo home run in the fifth) and three walks in five innings

It was White’s second start since making his Major League debut with the Rangers on June 13 against the Los Angeles Angels. After his MLB debut, White returned to Double-A Frisco, where he allowed one hit in three innings on Sunday, before being promoted to Triple-A.

At Frisco, White was 2-3 with a 3.51 ERA in 12 starts. He struck out 48 and walked 23 in 56 1/3 innings. He earned Texas League Player of the Week honors earlier this season.

White made his Rangers debut against the Angels in relief after he was called up to work in tandem with starter Cody Bradford when Jon Gray was pushed back because of a blister.

White allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two in two innings.

He was selected out of high school in the second round of the 2018 MLB draft and signed for $1.5 million. Less than a year later, he had Tommy John surgery. During his 2021 professional debut in the minors, he broke his hand after slamming it to the turf after making an error.

He earned Pitcher of the Year honors while finishing 2021 in the Arizona Fall League.
