Betting on Texas Rangers Rookie Josh Jung

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung is Fanduel's American League Rookie of the Year favorite.

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung is the betting favorite to win American League Rookie of the Year, according to Fanduel.

The reigning AL Rookie of the Month is off to an excellent start in his first full season in the Majors, helping the Rangers to the top of the AL West.

Jung batted .270/.324/.500/.820 with six home runs, five doubles and 21 RBI in 26 games through April. His six home runs and 21 RBI are the most by a Texas rookie before the end of April, surpassing the previous highs of five homers (Adolis García in 2021) and 16 RBI (David Murphy in 2008).

Jung also drilled a pair of homers in Wednesday’s 12-7 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, snapping a four-game Texas winning streak. He leads rookies with eight homers and 24 RBI.

Jung is the first Texas player to win the league’s monthly rookie honors since García May 2021. Overall, 10 Rangers have won rookie of the month since the award was introduced in 2001.

Despite being the Fanduel’s ROY favorite at +300, Jung was recently listed fifth in the MLB.com’s Rookie Power Rankings.

Rounding out the top Fanduel AL rookies are Boston Red Sox outfielder Masataka Yoshida (+350), New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe (+700), Houston Astros pitcher Hunter Brown (+750), and Baltimore Orioles third baseman Gunnar Henderson and Cleveland Guardians pitcher Tanner Bibee (both +1500).

The Rangers (18-12) open a 10-day road trip Friday at the Los Angeles Angels followed by series at the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics.
