Texas Rangers Mash Way to Royals Sweep

The Texas Rangers offense stayed rolling Wednesday afternoon in securing a series sweep at the Kansas City Royals.

The Texas Rangers continued their torrid tear, completing a three-game series sweep of the Kansas City Royals with a 12-3 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.

The Rangers (12-6) sit six games above .500 for the first time since July 14, 2019, extended their winning streak to four during a 5-1 road trip and have plenty of momentum going into a weekend series against the struggling Oakland Athletics

Martín Pérez (3-1) took the mound for Texas and had his most challenging start of the young season. Pérez exited the game with one out left in the sixth inning, having allowed three earned runs. He fell just one out short of a quality start but earned the win. His season ERA now sits at 3.38 ERA.

The bullpen was also solid as Jonathan Hernández, Jose Leclerc and Josh Sborz combined for 3 1/3 scoreless innings.

The Rangers offense was impressive again, racking up 13 hits, including four for extra bases. Texas also scored 12 runs in Tuesday night's win.

Wednesday's effort was once again led by second baseman Marcus Semien, who turned in a multi-hit performance and recorded two RBI.

Center fielder Leody Taveras had his best performance this season with double and standup triple. He also recorded two RBI.

Catcher Jonah Heim had a multi-hit day and capped it off with a three-run home run in the ninth inning to make it 12-3. It was the 12th home run in the last nine games for Texas.

It feels as if this Texas squad can't be stopped right now. The offensive, defensive and pitching staff performances have all been performing at a high level.

The Rangers continue to lead the American League West. The first of three games with Oakland is Friday at Globe Life Field.
