Watch: Jacob deGrom Begins Texas Rangers Career With Strikeout

Texas Rangers ace Jacob deGrom began his career with the franchise by striking out Philadelphia Phillies superstar Trea Turner on three pitches.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers have a new $185 million ace in town and he made his presence known in his very first inning with his new team.

En route to a three-up, three-down inning, deGrom needed just three pitches to finish off his first opposing batter in Philadelphia Phillies superstar Trea Turner.

If you recall, Turner went on a tear this spring in the World Baseball Classic and helped lead Team USA to the finals while also tying the tournament record for home runs.

deGrom struck Turner out on pitches.

The new ace then got Kyle Schwarber to fly out to center and caught J.T. Realmuto looking.

It could not have been scripted better for deGrom as he hopes to lead the Rangers to an Opening Day victory.
