Would the Boston Red Sox consider a former player fan-favorite player to succeed either Chaim Bloom or Brain O'Halloran in the front office?

The Red Sox reportedly are having a hard time garnering interest for the aforementioned roles due to the many pieces already in place -- limiting the next president of baseball operations impact -- and the frequent turnover over the last decade.

Would the Fenway Sports Group -- who hopefully are enduring a wakeup call -- pivot to one of the most well-liked former players in Boston?

"I'm going to call (Red Sox president) Sam Kennedy whenever I get off the phone here and I hear they are looking (for a new general manager)," Brock Holt jokingly told WEEI's Rob Bradford on the "Baseball Isn't Boring" podcast.

In an answer that started as a joke, Holt revealed that he would like to return to Boston in some capacity, with a particular interest in the front office.

"I'm trying to get involved man," Holt continued. "I want to be involved somehow."

"I've been trying to get back and we'll see what happens but I want to get back involved somehow and I'd like to test out... get my foot in the door and see what that side of things is like, the front office side," Holt said.

Holt explained how he'd also like to venture into coaching but would not sign up for that schedule since his priority lies with his wife and two young boys.

The Red Sox are not going to hand the reigns of the organization to a former player with no experience in baseball operations but he could join the organization in some sort of advisory role without having to uproot his family.

Before starting "Inside The Red Sox", Neville attended Merrimack College, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Media with a minor in Marketing. Neville spent all four years with Merrimack's radio station WMCK, where he grew as a radio/podcast host and producer.  His propensity for being in front of a microphone eventually expanded to film, where he produced multiple short films alongside his then-roommate and current co-worker Stephen Mottram. On a journey that began as a way to receive easy credits via film classes, he received a call from "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" star Charlie Day. Day advised him to make a feature-length film, which he completed his senior year. While writing the film, Neville completed an internship for United Way as part of their NFL Partnership Program. Neville ran the blog for a team of interns and hosted an internet show called "United Way's NFL Partnership Series" where he interviewed NFL alumni. After college Neville wrote for SB Nation's "Over The Monster," a Red Sox sister site of the flagship brand. His work would eventually lead him to a job as a content producer with NESN, where he would cover all sports. After developing as a writer with the top regional network in the world, he was given the opportunity to join the Sports Illustrated Media Group in his current endeavor as the publisher of "Inside The Red Sox." The successful launch and quick rise of "Inside The Red Sox" led to Neville joining the Baseball Essential ownership group, a national baseball site under SIMG.
