There still are plenty of free agents out there who could help a club at the big league level.

The Boston Red Sox are looking for ways to help improve the team right now but they aren't the only ones. There still are plenty of teams out there looking to add despite Spring Training officially being upon us.

One team that still is looking to add is the Miami Marlins. Miami is looking for some help in the infield and recently offered two-time All-Star Tim Anderson a contract but a deal hasn't gotten done to this point.

Another player who has been linked to the Marlins is former Red Sox infielder Adalberto Mondesí. If Miami doesn't end up landing Anderson, it sounds like Mondesí could end up with the Marlins, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.

"But Miami has not done much this offseason, though sources say it would be surprising if the Marlins do not sign either Tim Anderson or Adalberto Mondesí to play shortstop, as The Athletic first reported," Sherman said. "The Marlins know Jon Berti is more a utility man than shortstop, especially having turned 34 in January.

"Also Miami will be without ace Sandy Alcantara all year after he underwent Tommy John surgery last October."

Boston acquired Mondesí in a trade with the Kansas City Royals last offseason but he never was able to make an appearance with the team. He has dealt with a handful of injuries over the last few years but is a bounce-back candidate.

If he's healthy, he could be a solid pickup for Miami. Before getting injured, Mondesí was a dynamic player. He had impressive speed and was solid defensively. It sounds like a deal with Miami could be in the cards.
