MLB Insider Hints That Red Sox Could Move On From Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom
Could the Boston Red Sox make a major change this offseason?
Boston has been better than many expected it to be this season but likely will miss the postseason for the second straight season. The Red Sox currently are 73-70 and are six games out of an American League Wild Card spot. Boston has a bright future and likely will be even better next season, but speculation has hinted that changes still could be coming to the Red Sox's front office.
Many have wondered if Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom will remain with the club past this season and ESPN MLB insider Buster Olney seemed to imply that he is on the hot seat on a recent episode of "The Brady Farkas Show."
"There's always been a conversation about whether or not Chaim, who came from the Tampa Bay Rays, if he was going to try to institute a system like the Tampa Bay Rays," Olney said. "Would there be enough time?" We've seen with Red Sox ownership that they will veer...it does feel like there's an expiration date in place when you're talking about the frustration of fans and the question is whether ownership will veer again off this plan that was a very, very long-term plan."
This isn't the first time Bloom's future with the Red Sox has been in question, although a move would be surprising at this point. Boston's farm system has taken a massive step forward and the Red Sox seemingly are a move or two away this offseason away from making their way back to the postseason. Although a move is unlikely, Boston has been mentioned as a possible suitor for other top executives, like David Stearns.
It's unclear what will happen, but changes could be coming in Boston.
