Red Sox Duo Make History After Insane Start To Season; Could Boston Surprise In 2023?
The Boston Red Sox already are making history to open the 2023 season.
Boston entered the 2023 campaign with low expectations after finishing in last place in the American League East standings in 2022. The Red Sox already have made headlines after a roller coaster of a start to the 2023 campaign, but should be better than they were last season sluggers Rafael Devers and Adam Duvall should be two of the biggest reasons why.
Devers and Duvall have been two of baseball's best hitters to open the young seasons. Duvall is leading the league in batting average at .483 and RBIs with 14 and is just one home run behind New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso and Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds for the home run league lead at four.
The young Boston third baseman also has clubbed four home runs so far this season after a two-home run day against the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Devers and Duvall have made history already for Boston this season as the first duo in team history to hit four or more home runs each across the club's first eight games, according to SoxNotes' J.P Long.
If Boston is going to surprise people in 2023, the club is going to need Devers and Duvall to continue to shine. The slugging duo provides the club with much-needed power. Boston finished 20th in the big leagues in home runs in 2022 with 155 so if the club were to improve in 2023, it certainly would help.
Duvall signed with the Red Sox as a free agent ahead of the 2023 season and already is making waves. There wasn't much expectations for the slugger after missing much of the 2022 season due to injuries, but he seemingly is fully healthy and is making a major impact for Boston.
Hopefully, the duo can keep it going and help Boston win plenty of games this season.
