The Boston Red Sox have put themselves in a position to have a very interesting offseason.

Boston has struggled since the beginning of August but has shown signs of progress this season. The Red Sox have dealt with a wide range of injuries and inconsistent play from the starting rotation but Boston isn't too far away from the postseason. Adding one or two starters this offseason could be exactly what the club needs.

It's unclear exactly what will happen this upcoming offseason, but manager Alex Cora doesn't see himself going anywhere, according to the Boston Globe's Alex Speier.

"Cora has waved off the notion of a move to the front office and leaving a job he loves," Speier said. "He remains energized by the prospect of managing the Red Sox and believes success in that role remains within reach.

“There were a few times that I was very frustrated with everything that was going on on the field, but I’m actually in a good place as far as where I’m at now and what the future holds,” Cora said as transcribed by Speier. “I still believe in what I do. I still believe that we can do it here. We can win here. That’s my main goal. I know where I’m at contract-wise and all that, but I don’t even think about that. That house in Newton is not going up for sale. I’m actually excited about the offseason."

Boston will have a lot of work to do but the fact that Cora seemingly will remain in place should come as a welcomed sight for Red Sox fans. The Red Sox aren't too far away from the postseason. Hopefully, Cora can help take them there in 2024.
