The Boston Red Sox could look a little different next season.

Boston likely will retain much of the same roster but the starting rotation likely will look the most different. There are a few other positions that could see overhaul and one is designated hitter. Justin Turner signed with the Red Sox as a free agent this past offseason and certainly has been impressive. The 38-year-old can opt for free agency again this offseason and it wouldn't be surprising to see him nab a more lucrative contract elsewhere.

Although he may be on the way out, he had nothing but praise for Red Sox fans after the final home game of the season Wednesday, according to MLB.com's Ian Browne.

"Look at tonight, it’s the last game of the season, out of playoff contention, but the house is packed and everyone's into the game and it's just been an absolute pleasure to play in front of these fans every single night," Turner said. "So I want to say thank you to all the fans for being so brave for showing up and sorry we fell short.”

It's unclear what will happen, but it does sound like Turner would return to Boston next season if given the opportunity.

"I would definitely be happy if I was back here again next year," Turner said after the game.

Turner has been one of Boston's best players this season and overall has slashed .275/.345/.457 with 23 home runs and a career-high 96 RBIs in 142 games. There's no way for sure to know what will happen but it's clear Turner enjoyed his first year in Boston despite failing to make the postseason.
