Rumored Red Sox Target's Market 'Heating Up,' Could Move Be Coming For Boston?

If Boston wants to land one of its free-agent targets it's going to have to act fast

What will the Boston Red Sox do throughout the rest of the offseason?

Boston has multiple holes on the roster that still need to be filled. The Red Sox could use one more frontline starter and at least one or two high-leverage relievers. This number could even rise if the Red Sox end up trading away star closer Kenley Jansen.

It's unclear what Boston will do but the club has been linked to multiple free-agent relievers. One player who has popped up on multiple occasions is former St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays fireballer Jordan Hicks.

Hicks would be a solid option for Boston but if it wants to make a move, it will have to act quickly as his market is starting to heat up, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"Jordan Hicks market picking up," Heyman said. "Most of the best relievers remain free. (Josh Hader) is the top guy but there are also Hicks, (Robert Stephenson), (Phil Maton), (Aroldis Chapman), Matt Moore, (Ryan Brasier), (Jakob Junis), (John Brebbia), (Shintaro Fujinami), (Brad Hand), and more."

Hicks is one of the most sought-after free-agent relievers this offseason. It isn't hard to see why. Hicks boasts a fastball that approaches 105 miles per hour. He may be just 27 years old but could be a star in the making. Hicks logged a 3.29 ERA last season in 65 total appearances with the Cardinals and Blue Jays and an 81-to-32 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

It's unclear how likely a move is with Boston, but Hicks may end up signing soon.
