The New York Yankees seemingly are doing everything they can to land another star to help bolster their rotation.

New York has made it known this offseason that it is looking to improve the rotation after winning just 82 games last year. The Yankees entered the offseason needing to improve the outfield, middle of the order, and add at least one starter.

The Yankees already have addressed the outfield and middle of the order by landing superstar slugger Juan Soto. New York now needs to add a hurler and it has been linked to most hurlers that could be available in free agency or the trade market.

Chicago White Sox ace Dylan Cease has been in trade rumors for weeks and likely will be the best hurler traded this offseason. He has been linked to the Yankees multiple times this offseason and it sounds like New York and Chicago have discussed a possible deal, according to USA Today Sports' Bob Nightengale.

"The Chicago White Sox have recently spoken to the Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, but they are not close to trading ace Dylan Cease," Nightengale said. "They’re still holding out for two premium prospects and two others in return. If the White Sox don’t get what they want, they’ll hold onto him until they do."

Cease is just 28 years old and could be the perfect player to bring in to help fix the rotation. He is under contract not only for the 2024 campaign but the 2025 season as well. The only issue is Chicago is looking for at least two elite prospects in a possible deal.

New York already has decimated its farm system this offseason in its trade for Soto. The Yankees still do have some intriguing players available, but a deal likely would be centered around either top prospect Spencer Jones or No. 2 prospect Jasson Domínguez.

Jones has more trade value at this time as Domínguez recovers from an injury. It's unclear if the Yankees could land Cease, but there have been plenty of rumors about a possible deal.
