Yankees' Luis Severino Looks Sharp in First Rehab Start
One big step in the right direction.
Yankees pitcher Luis Severino took the mound in his first rehab start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday and looked sharp.
Severino went 3.1 innings on 49 pitches, allowing one run on a solo home run, two hits, one walk and struck out three batters.
Severino has been on the injured list with a strained last since the last week of Spring Training.
He passed a very big test in his rehab outing, but he will likely require several more minor league starts before he is deemed ready to rejoin the big-league rotation.

Severino was initially supposed to make his first rehab start last Friday, but the Yankees opted to give him another simulated game instead. This was a move that Severino was not happy with, but he understood that it was out of his control.
In addition to Severino, the Yankees' rotation has been without Carlos Rodon (back) and Frankie Montas (shoulder surgery) this season.
