Yankees Manager Aaron Boone Makes Team History After Impressive Win Vs. Red Sox

Boone did something Tuesday not many other managers have done in team history

The New York Yankees may not be having the season they had hoped for, but they certainly had a solid Tuesday.

The Yankees traveled to Boston to take on the rival Red Sox for a doubleheader and came away with a sweep. New York -- who has been in last place in the American League East for the last few weeks now is tied with Boston with a 73-72 record with the winner of Wednesday's contest set to overtake fourth place in the standings.

With the pair of wins, Yankees manager Aaron Boone also made team history by earning his 500th career win, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

"This marks Aaron Boone's 500th managerial win, becoming just the eighth manager in Yankees history to reach the plateau," Hoch said.

Boone joins Billy Martin, Joe Girardi, Ralph Houck, Miller Huggins, Casey Stengel, Joe Torre, and Joe McCarthy as the only managers in team history to reach the impressive threshold. Of the eight Yankees managers to win 500 or more games, Boone ranks sixth with a winning percentage of .586.

The Yankees have been in the news lately as there has been some rumblings about whether or not Boone will return to the club next season. Although there have been some rumors, it's certainly much more likely than not that Boone will be at the helm in New York next season. The Yankees haven't had the season they hoped to have this year, but have started to turn things around of late. With a few moves this offseason, they could be right back in the postseason mix in 2024.
