The New York Yankees certainly have been busy lately.

New York improved the outfield recently by landing superstar slugger Juan Soto along with Alex Verdugo and Trent Grisham in a trade with the San Diego Padres and Boston Red Sox.

The Yankees now have completed another trade as they reportedly have landed pitcher Victor Gonzalez and infielder Jorbit Vivas from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for infielder Trey Sweeney, according to ESPN's Alden González.

"Sources: The Yankees are sending shortstop prospect Trey Sweeney to the Dodgers in exchange for (left-handed relief pitcher) Victor Gonzalez and (second baseman/third baseman) Jorbit Vivas," González said. "This clears two 40-man-roster spots to make room for Shohei Ohtani and Joe Kelly."

Sweeney was New York's eighth-ranked prospect but with Anthony Volpe cemented as the club's starting shortstop, a move certainly made sense. The young infielder is projected to make the jump to the big leagues next season and there isn't space for him in New York.

New York needs to add to the bullpen and landing González is a solid place to start. He compiled a 4.01 ERA for the Dodgers last season across 34 outings and has a career 3.22 ERA in three seasons. Plus, his advanced metrics looked much more solid last season.

Vivas was the Dodgers' 10th-ranked prospect and is an intriguing player to watch for in the Yankees' system now. He is just 22 years old but made the jump to Triple-A last season and could even be a candidate to make the jump to the big leagues next year. The speedster clubbed 13 home runs, drove in 63 runs, logged 25 doubles, and stole 25 bases last season along with a .269/.381/.407 slash line.
