Yankees Still Open To Adding To Roster; Could Superstar Pitcher Sign Soon?
Spring Training officially is upon us.
The offseason was excruciatingly slow but baseball almost is back. Although Spring Training is here, there still are some very solid free agent options available looking for new homes.
The New York Yankees have made a handful of additions but speculation has swirled that the club could make another move.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman made it known that the club hasn't ruled anything out and still could make another move or two, as transcribed by the New York Post's Greg Joyce.
“I don’t have ‘blocked’ on my call sheet for any agents,” Cashman said as transcribed by Joyce. “If they want to call, they certainly have the avenue to do so. I’m always open-minded to listen to what’s available as well as continue our dialogues with opposing general managers.
"But we do like what we have here. But it’s a long season. We’re certainly not going to assume that what we have now is going to be enough. That’s why the job is always to be open.”
The top two pitchers still available in free agency certainly are Jordan Montgomery and Blake Snell. New York has been linked to both in some capacity throughout the offseason and it sounds like a move still could be a possibility.
If either of their price tag drops, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Yankees swoop in and get a deal done.
New York clearly is going all in on the 2024 season and landing someone like Snell or Montgomery would go a long way.
