Report: With Jeff Hornacek on hot seat, Suns fire two assistants
With rumors swirling that the Suns could fire head coach Jeff Hornacek, the team has let go of assistant coaches Mike Longabardi and Jerry Sichting, Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Hornacek’s future is “unclear,” Wojnarowski adds.
ESPN’s Marc Stein reported earlier Sunday that Hornacek’s job was “under immediate threat” as the Suns are mired in a 5–15 skid and sit 12th in the Western Conference at 12–20.
Former Bakersfield Jam head coach Nate Bjorkgren and former NBA point guard Earl Watson will be promoted to larger roles on the staff, Stein reports.
Longabardi was hired in 2013 after six seasons working under Doc Rivers with the Celtics. He was also an assistant coach with the Rockets under Jeff Van Gundy.

Sichting also joined the Suns staff in 2013, when Hornacek was hired as head coach. A former NBA player, Sichting was previously an assistant for the Timberwolves, Warriors and Wizards.
