The team announced on Monday that the 30-year-old had sustained a sprained ankle during Friday’s loss, and was set to be sidelined for at least the next two weeks. Beal will be reevaluated in January, at which point the Suns will have a more clear indication of when he’ll be ready to return.

Following the offseason trade that brought Beal to Phoenix from the Wizards, he proceeded to miss the first seven games of the season prior to making his franchise debut in November. He played in just three games before getting sidelined for more than a month due to a back injury

Beal returned to action on Dec. 12, before injuring his ankle during the Suns’ game on Dec. 15.

In six games this year, Beal is averaging 14.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists, and is shooting at a 42.9% clip from three-point range.

He’s missed 20 of Phoenix’s first 26 games and will be sidelined for at least their next six contests, possibly more.
