Doc Rivers’s time as an NBA commentator didn’t last very long as he is reportedly set to become the Milwaukee Bucksnew head coach.

The rest of his now-former ABC/ESPN crew, Mike Breen and Doris Burke, addressed Rivers’s departure ahead of the Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns game.

Breen thought of the perfect way to make light of the Rivers situation as he listed players who were unavailable on both teams.

“For ABC/ESPN, Doc Rivers is out,” Breen said, making Burke laugh. “Our dear friend has decided life as an NBA broadcaster is way too stressful, so he’s decided to opt for a less stressful job, NBA head coach on a team that’s trying to win a championship. We thank him for all his many weeks of service, and we wish him all the luck in the world.”

Rivers joined the ABC/ESPN crew this NBA season after he was let go by the Philadelphia 76ers at the end of last season. At the time of his career jump, Rivers didn’t shut down the possibility of returning to life as a coach and less than a season later, he’ll get that chance.
