LeBron James Salutes Jurgen Klopp After Manager Announces He’s Leaving Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp announced his intention to step down from his role at the end of the season, marking the end of nine strong seasons with the club. While many Liverpool fans were saddened by the news, one fan in particular went viral for his reaction to Klopp’s decision.

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, who is a minority owner of the Reds, thanked Klopp for all of his work with a strong message on social media.

“THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING AND MORE!!” James wrote. “You are one helluva manager and you’ll never be forgotten and more importantly YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE!! The Reds will miss you!!”

Under Klopp’s watch, Liverpool has finished in the top five of the Premier League for seven straight seasons, including Premier League title in 2020, along with a Champions League victory in 2019. Currently, Liverpool stands in first place in the Premier League, five points ahead of Manchester City for second place.

Liverpool also remains in contention for the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.

James and his business partner, Maverick Carter, collectively bought a 2% ownership stake in Liverpool in 2011. He then turned that stake into an investment in Fenway Sports Group, the group that owns Liverpool, the Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburgh Penguins, among other ventures.
