Ben Simmons Already Back On Nets' Injury Report One Game After Making Return
Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons returned Monday after a near three-month absence due to a back injury. Just one game into his return, the 27-year-old finds himself back on the team’s injury report due to a separate ailment.
Simmons was downgraded to questionable ahead of Brooklyn’s Wednesday night tilt against the Phoenix Suns due to a knee contusion he sustained late into the win against the Utah Jazz on Monday, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.
The Nets and Suns are set to tip off at 8:30 p.m. EST from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, so an update on Simmons’s status should be made available prior to tipoff.
Simmons has featured in just seven games for the Nets this season, having been sidelined from Nov. 6-Jan. 29. He played well in his return on Monday, shooting a perfect five-for-five from the field, totaling 10 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds as he flirted with a triple-double across 18 minutes off the bench.
Injuries have plagued Simmons throughout his career. Since being acquired by Brooklyn during the 2021-22 season, he’s played in just 49 games, and he’s at risk of missing yet another clash if he’s unable to go on Wednesday against Phoenix due to the knee injury.
