3 More Teams Rumored to Have Interest in 76ers’ Tobias Harris
Soon, all eyes will be on James Harden in Philly as the Philadelphia 76ers work on getting the ten-time All-Star back in the mix as his potential free agency period approaches. For the time being, most of the focus is on the Sixers’ veteran forward, Tobias Harris.
Over the years, Harris has been a popular trade candidate for the Sixers, but he always ended up sticking around. This summer, the veteran forward has been one of the most notable names in trade rumors across the league, but the Sixers haven’t gained any significant traction in a possible deal.
While many believed that the 2023 NBA Draft could be the time when the Sixers finally move on from Harris, a report from The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey shot down that notion, noting that Philadelphia’s asking price for Harris has been described as “outrageous” from one of the three suitors.
At the time, teams such as the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, and Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly inquired about Harris. On Saturday night, just a few days after the NBA Draft, three more teams were added to the mix.
Who Else Enters the Mix?
According to Pompey, the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, and Dallas Mavericks have inquired. Similar to the first report, the latest discussion surrounding Harris’s trade market described Philadelphia’s price as quite high.
Although it’s not what some want to hear, the reality is that the Sixers aren’t in a rush to move on from Harris at this time. Without any desirable offers on the table at the moment, there doesn’t seem to be a ton of motivation to part ways with the starting forward… Yet.
We’ve seen this movie play out with the Philadelphia 76ers before, where they ask for a ton in trade discussions before bringing their expectations back down to reality. It’s become clear the Sixers aren’t going to move Harris for the sake of doing it, and rightfully so.
While the chances of Harris actually moving on from Philadelphia increase by the day as he approaches the final season of his contract that he signed in 2019, there hasn’t been a team that’s separated itself from the pack of interested suitors. Therefore, there is still plenty of time before the Sixers reach any deal to move on from Harris.
