When Patrick Beverley parted ways with the Philadelphia 76ers via trade nearly two weeks back, there was a lot of Philly-based support for the veteran.

In his short period of time in Philadelphia, Beverley grew to be a fan favorite. That’s not surprising, considering he brought defensive toughness, vocal leadership, and everything else that Sixers fans desire in a hard-working reserve player.

However, it wouldn’t be long before Beverley’s outspoken nature would cause Sixers fans to question how they truly felt about him. Never being one to hold back what’s on his mind, Beverley made a comment on The Pat Bev Podcast With Rone that caused quite a stir.

Opening up about a conversation he had with 76ers forward Tobias Harris, Beverley revealed the “biggest difference” between the Bucks and the Sixers.

“I talked to Tobias [Harris] on the phone and he was like, ‘Yo, what’s the biggest difference?’ I’m like: ‘Everybody wants to win… Everybody wants to win. Everybody wants to win. It’s not about stats. It’s not about numbers here. It’s not about who gets the ball. Everybody here wants to win.’”

There was a lot of speculation on social media over the last couple of days as everybody attempted to decipher Beverley’s message. As Beverley’s comment went viral, he took to social media to attempt to clear up his wording.

Pat Bev Offers Controversial Sixers Take

“Please casual fans,” he wrote. “Philly is a big part of my success [in basketball] and [podcast] world. I could not and will not say anything bad about my time there. Thanks for everything Philly.”

Beverley doesn’t exactly walk back his statement — but he attempts to make it clear that what he said was not negative — and he remains fond of his time in Philadelphia.

This past summer, Beverley signed with the Sixers on a one-year deal. He appeared in 47 games with the team before reaching the trade deadline. During his time, Beverley averaged six points and three assists.

Prior to his recent comment, the veteran guard likely would’ve received a warm welcome back to South Philly when the Sixers host the Milwaukee Bucks one week from the All-Star Game. Now, it’s unclear how Pat Bev's return will play out.
