Jalen McDaniels Misses Practice Tuesday After Suffering Injury
The Philadelphia 76ers participated in a practice session on Tuesday morning before hitting the road once again.
While the Sixers have been relatively healthy as of late, they were missing a key reserve on Tuesday as Jalen McDaniels was not a participant, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
McDaniels’ recent injury concerns started on Sunday night as the Sixers faced the Washington Wizards.
After McDaniels checked in for a few minutes in the second quarter, the young veteran went back to the locker room to get checked out after he hurt his hip.
When the Sixers fired up the second half, McDaniels was ruled out for the rest of the game. According to team officials, McDaniels was dealing with a hip contusion.
After the game, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers mentioned that he didn’t believe the setback was too severe.
“I don’t think it’s serious,” said Rivers. “I think it’s a hip contusion, back, or something in that area. “I think he’ll be fine. It’s scary. Looked like when he first hit it, it was a scary bump, but it looks like he’ll be okay.”
Despite not practicing on Tuesday, Rivers seems to believe that McDaniels should be good to participate in Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“It’s nothing serious,” he said on Tuesday, according to Pompey. “We expect him to be ready for tomorrow, but we don’t know yet. … But there’s no way we were going to let him practice today. We didn’t do enough anyway today.”
The Sixers are set to face the Cavaliers on Wednesday night on the road.
According to the injury report, McDaniels is listed as questionable for the matchup. The Sixers and the Cavs are set to tip-off at 7:30 PM on Wednesday.
