Giannis Antetokounmpo is named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Following an explosive seven days, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from December 11th to 17th.

The Greek Freak earned his Player of the Week honor this season and the 22nd of his career by leading the Bucks to a 4-0 record last week.

64-point explosion

In Milwaukee’s unbeaten run last week, Antetokounmpo averaged 36.0 points, 12.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 63.9 percent from the field.

The highly productive week saw Giannis explode for a career-high and a franchise-record 64 points in their 140-126 thrashing of the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.Antetokounmpo made a franchise-record 24 free throws on a franchise-best 32 attempts in that win.

Record-setting performances

On his way to erupting for 64 points, the two-time MVP shot 71.4 percent from the field, making him just the fifth player in NBA history to score 60-plus points on 70 percent shooting.

Antetokounmpo also became the Bucks’ all-time leader in rebounding when the Bucks defeated the Houston Rockets, 128-119, on Sunday night. Giannis grabbed a season-high 17 boards to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (7,161) for the top spot.

Owing to a stellar run last, Antetokounmpo is now averaging a career-high 31.4 points (3rd in NBA), 11.0 rebounds (tied for 6th in NBA) and 5.0 assists per game on a career-best 61.8 percent shooting (6th in NBA) this season.

Giannis’ stellar performance has pushed the Bucks to solo second spot in the Eastern Conference with a 19-7 record.
