"I have no idea how he's doing" - Giannis Antetokounmpo on upcoming clash with Spurs' Victor Wembanyama

After stamping their fourth-straight victory in courtesy of a successful finish at home Sunday night against the Houston Rockets, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks are about to approach a contest with the San Antonio Spurs, who feature the most hyped prospect of this generation in Victor Wembanyana.

As much as the upcoming matchup draws lofty anticipation around the league regarding the collision of two European giants — the present and the future of the NBA, as well — in Giannis and Victor, the Greek Freak isn't entirely amped up about his soon encounter with the French wunderkind.

No idea of Wemby

As it is, Victor is living up to his promise as basketball's next big thing. Even though the Spurs are dwelling at the depths of the NBA ladder with a lowly 4-21 record, the 19-year-old has been nothing but sensational by averaging 19 points, 11 boards, and a league-leading three blocks per game. Along these mind-boggling numbers are video game-like plays that purely depict his one-in-a-million talent.

But amid the hyping and broad media coverage that Wembanyama receives, Antetokounmpo admitted that he is completely unaware of the Spurs star's roaring brilliance this season.

"I don't watch [how Wembanyama play] basketball. I'll be very honest with you. I haven't seen no highlights. I can feel the hype. I know this hype because I see my teammates talking about Victor did this, Victor did that, man, this guy's an alien, and all that. But I'll be very honest with you. I have no idea how he's doing, where he ranks, and how many points he scores," Giannis said.

Helping his team over anything

In the most common Giannis thing, he can only pay his full attention to what he can bring to the table for his Bucks team above anything else.

Rather than focusing on the stacking narratives of the heavyweight meeting he'll have with Wembanyama, Antetokounmpo is fully committed to continuing Milwaukee's impressive regular-season push.

"It doesn't matter. I'm just going to try to do the best I can do in that game to help my team win."
