The Milwaukee Bucks picked up their fifth win in a row after defeating the lowly Washington Wizards 142-129. Here are a couple of takeaways from Monday night’s mauling of the Wizards.

Scoring a season-high

The Bucks were on point on offense all game long, as they shot 58.5% from the field and tallied a season-high in points scored. Leading the charge was superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who Bucks coach Adrian Griffin described as “unstoppable” in this game. Griffin was right as the “Greek Freak” took full advantage of the Wizards’ lack of a legitimate rim protector and scored 42 points.

He made the feat more impressive by making 20 of his 23 attempts from the field. He also grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out eight assists.

“Left block, right block, transition, rim run, off the dribble. Roll, pop — just play random basketball. I think it's harder to guard, harder for them to load up,” Giannis said of his play inside.

Giannis got plenty of help from the other Bucks starters, with Lillard tallying 22 points, Khris Middleton 18, and Brook Lopez and Malik Beasley adding 16 points apiece. Bobby Portis came off the bench and had 17 points and eight boards.

Defense still lacking

Despite their stellar shooting, the Wizards did not go away easily and even took a 108-107 lead early in the fourth. The Bucks responded with a 12-3 run that gave them the cushion needed to run away with the game.

Griffin was none too pleased with the Bucks’ defensive performance as they gave up a whopping 129 points to a team ranked 25th in the league in offensive rating.

“I didn't like much about our defense,” Griffin said. “Until the end, and we were able to start stringing some stops. It was tough.”
