Bulls Eye: Chicago Bulls making only minor roster changes
As numerous experts and fans expected, the decision-makers of the Chicago Bulls have opted to bring back most of the pieces from the squad that missed the NBA Playoffs this past season. While many people following the team were clamoring for the Bulls to push the reset button, Bulls vice president Arturas Karnisovas elected to re-sign starting center Nikola Vucevic before signing guards Coby White and Jevon Carter to new deals.
Here are five major stories about the Bulls' offseason from last week.
1) Andre Drummond picks up his player option to stay with the Chicago Bulls
Veteran big man Andre Drummond had earlier expressed his desire to pick up his player option and play one more season with the Bulls, citing his love for the city, the fans, and the franchise. Last week, the former All-Star made it official, thereby giving the Bulls a reliable presence in the paint, right behind Vucevic.
2) Chicago Bulls confirm they have agreed to an extension with starting center Nikola Vucevic
Vooch has signed a new contract with the Bulls that is reportedly worth $60 million for three years. Barring any major transactions in the next few months, this means the Bulls will parade the "Big 3" of Vucevic, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan for yet another season.
3) Chicago Bulls reportedly offer Turkish star Onuralp Bitim two-way contract
The Bulls signed an international prospect in Turkish shooting guard Onuralp Bitim to a two-way contract. The Bulls hope they have uncovered a gem in Bitim, who averaged 17.8 points on 45 percent shooting, to go with 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Perhaps more importantly, the Bulls are hoping that the 6-foot-6 wingman can help with their three-point troubles as Bitim shot 36 percent from long range.
4) Chicago Bulls sign big man Adama Sanogo to two-way contract
The Bulls also added more size to their roster in UConn big man Adama Sanogo. The former Huskie was an integral piece of Dan Hurley's UConn squad that won it all earlier this year. He averaged 17.4 points, 7.7 boards, and 1.3 assists in his final season in the NCAA and made over 60 percent of his attempts. Aside from the NCAA men's basketball title, Sanogo won the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player award.
5) Report indicates Zach LaVine's camp is against a deal involving the New York Knicks
Zach LaVine's name has been mentioned in numerous trade rumors this offseason. However, don't expect the high-flying wingman to don a Knick jersey anytime soon, as his camp expressed they are not interested in any deal involving a trade to that New York squad.
