Coby White's run has been very smooth and enjoyable until Monday night, when he encountered a difficult roadblock in Cleveland.

After having a solid groove individually during this season of growth, Coby suddenly found himself as a big burden in the Chicago Bulls' 109-91 heartbreaking loss to the Cavaliers. Despite scoring 18 points, he missed 10 of his 15 field goal tries (1-for-5 from three).

Furthermore, his game-high seven turnovers were detrimental to the Bulls, as the Cavs capitalized on them to score 18 massive points and pull away with the home win.

A learning experience

Amid the troubling performance that severely inflicted the Bulls, coach Billy Donovan still sees a blessing in disguise in this rough performance made by Coby.

He believes that White needs this kind of game to continue blossoming his play and potential as the franchise's rising star

“I think he was obviously trying to take it upon himself to step up,” Donovan said. “He’s got that kind of will and competitiveness. This is a really good learning experience for Coby because he’s been so elite and so great and this is one of those games where he was just trying to grind, he was competing like crazy.

Coby vows he'll be better

The Bulls saw themselves gunning for a second-half comeback after the Cavs built a 21-point lead in the first half. However, they were unable to finish their comeback efforts, as Cleveland dominated with a 29-14 fourth-quarter blitz to secure the victory.

As a result, White has accepted responsibility for Chicago's failure to match Cleveland's effort during the vital stretch. The promising guard committed three turnovers in the last frame, which aided the Cavs' rally to win the game down the stretch.

"I got to be better,” he said. “I just got to be better overall in the fourth quarter, we got the lead and I need to manage the game better. Can't turn the ball over. Just gotta be better if I'm going to be the lead guard for this team.”
