Cavaliers Face Elimination After Falling To Knicks In Game 4, 102-93
Well, the Cleveland Cavaliers are officially on the brink of being eliminated from the NBA Playoffs after falling to the New York Knicks 102-93 in Game 4.
The Cavs came out flat, there's no other way to put it. They allowed the Knicks to climb up to a 15-point lead in the first half while they shot a cool 31 percent from the floor.
Cleveland would end up coming back and taking the lead in the third quarter. However, it was short-lived as New York quickly came back to retake command of the game.
Darius Garland started off cold in the first half but was the one who kept them in the game toward the end. He scored 21 points in the second half alone and was an efficient 8-for-11 from the floor. But this wasn't enough to come away with the win.
Donovan Mitchell was the one who really struggled in Game 4. He had 12 first-half points but was nowhere to be found in the second half. He scored just 2 points in the final 24 minutes.
That's just not going to cut it if you're the best player on your team and an All-Star starter. Mitchell knows this, but the Cavaliers needed much more from him in Game 4.
Once again, Jalen Brunson baked the Cavs from midrange and led the Knicks to victory. He scored 29 points while shooting over 50 percent from behind the arc. Cleveland tried guarding him one on one and trapping him, but nothing seemed to work.
RJ Barrett and Josh Hart also continued to be a tremendous supporting cast as they combined for 45 points.
The Cavaliers now come back to Cleveland down 3-1. It's a near-impossible task to come back from that deficit, but anything can happen. (Bring on the 2016 mindset).
