Summer League is a great time to catch a glimpse at the NBA's next generation of talent. There's always going to be big names playing in it the showcase that you know are going to be stars.

But sometimes an unexpected player takes a game by storm and puts their name on everyone's radar heading into the season.

That's exactly what happened on Monday in the Cleveland Cavaliers game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Sam Merrill has always been known for his shooting ability, but he completely took over the game with his deep-range shots.

Merrill finished with a game-high 27 points. He shot 69 percent from the floor and 72.7 from behind the arc (8-of-11). Sam was able to do all of this in just 21 minutes of play.

After this impressive shooting performance, Merill now leads the Cavs Summer League team with 18.7 points through their first three games.

The Cavs desperately needed more shooting last season, which is one of the reasons they signed Merill to a three-year contract. If he continues to shoot the ball this effectively in Summer League he could get serious considering receiving some minutes off the bench during the regular season.
