The NBA rumor mill is certainly picking up as teams inch closer to being able to officially sign new players to their roster. The Cleveland Cavaliers are no exception to these whispers and reports as they've been linked to a number of players.

One player that Koby Altman and the front office are reportedly interested in is 26-year-old Derrick Jones Jr. Sam Amico of Hoops Wire was the first to report this.

Jones Jr. just wrapped up his seventh year in the league. He spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Bulls as a roleplayer off the bench. The forward is best known for his high-flying dunks, but he's more of a player than that.

Jones shot 34 percent from the floor last season while also grabbing 2.4 rebounds a night. Cleveland values their defense and that's something that he brings to the floor. Jones had a defense rating of 111.7 last season.

Derrick Jones Jr. is a solid NBA player who has a track record of providing some solid bench minutes on playoff teams. He wouldn't be a bad player to have around, but solely signing him wouldn't make the Cavs an immediate contender.
