A Look at Celtics' New Court Design for In-Season Tournament
For the NBA's in-season tournament, which will soon debut, the league split its 30 teams into one of six groups.
Each franchise will square off against the rest of their cluster once, totaling four games, two at home and two on the road. Those will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays in November. So, the regular-season contests between group-play opponents on those nights next month count towards playoff positioning and the in-season tournament.
The three teams from each conference with the best record against the rest of their group advance; there is also one wild card spot in the East and one in the West that will go to whoever has the top remaining mark in stage play.
The quarterfinals are single-elimination and will consist of eight franchises facing off on Dec. 4 and 5; the last four remaining head to Las Vegas, where they'll compete for the NBA Cup. The semifinals are on Dec. 7. The title game is on Dec. 9. The championship is the only contest that doesn't count toward the regular-season standings.
Here's a look at the schedule for the Boston Celtics, who are in Group C in the Eastern Conference with the Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, and Orlando Magic.
As a way to make the in-season tournament more festive, the NBA had new courts designed for all 30 teams. Here's what the TD Garden parquet will look like when the Celtics host in-season tournament games.
