Celtics Guard Expected to Join Team USA
The USA Men's Basketball Team will feature a star-studded roster when it vies for gold at the Paris Olympics this summer.
On the heels of September's loss to Team Canada, keeping them from the podium at the FIBA World Cup, LeBron James reached out to Jayson Tatum, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Davis, among others. Each of them reportedly is prepared to play in France, barring injuries.
The same goes for Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid. Another one of Team USA's 12 roster spots is expected to go to Jrue Holiday, according to Zach Harper and Shams Charania of The Athletic.
On the heels of helping the Milwaukee Bucks lift the Larry O'Brien Trophy in 2021, the two-time All-Star joined Tatum in propelling Team USA to the top of the medal stand at the Tokyo Olympics.
Per Harper and Charania, USA Basketball has pursued the Boston Celtics guard for much of the NBA season, and the belief is he conveyed his commitment to USAB officials in recent weeks.
Jaylen Brown and Derrick White are also among those in the 41-player pool Team USA is choosing from as it assembles its roster for this summer's Olympics.
