Jayson Tatum 'Prepared to Commit' to Team USA for 2024 Olympics
The USA Men's Basketball Team sent a roster featuring only three All-Stars to the FIBA World Cup this summer. When that group's talent wasn't the most significant advantage in a matchup, they had trouble finding a path to victory. The result was failing to medal, finishing fourth in the tournament.
On the heels of Sunday's loss to Team Canada, the defeat that kept the US from the podium, LeBron James, who's a three-time Olympian and two-time gold medalist, is reportedly ready for a fourth stint and to represent his country at the Paris Olympics next summer, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Charania adds that even before Team USA's FIBA World Cup loss, James started recruiting some of the NBA's most prominent stars to join him in the quest for a fifth-straight gold medal.
The four-time MVP reportedly reached out to Jayson Tatum, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and Draymond Green. All five are prepared to play in Paris, per Charania.
The Athletic's NBA insider also notes Damian Lillard, Devin Booker, De'Aaron Fox, and Kyrie Irving have "serious interest" in suiting up for Team USA next summer.
Tatum, Lillard, Green, and Durant helped guide the US to gold three years ago, with the latter earning MVP honors at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
