On a recent episode of Run Your Race, Naz Reid revealed that Kristaps Porzingis was the first player to severely outplay him in the NBA. The then-rookie Reid revealed that his coach couldn’t offer any advice.

“Porzingis was just shooting from the logo. What do you want me to do? I’m like ‘bro’. Coach is looking at me like… ‘That’s Porzingis’. I’m looking at him like ‘How am I supposed to adjust? You want me to go up there and guard him?’. He’s like ‘I don’t want you to go up there and guard him because he’s going to blow by you’.”

Reid is referencing the Minnesota Timberwolves’ game against the Dallas Mavericks on March 1st, 2020, in which Porzingis totaled 38 points. The Timberwolves center accumulated a defensive rating of 108.

This season, Porzingis is averaging 19.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. His current team, the Boston Celtics, hold the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Reid is also experiencing team success during the first quarter of the season. Minnesota boasts the best record in the Western Conference.
