The Boston Celtics have one vacant slot remaining on their roster, and they are $2.2 million below the second apron.

If the organization decides to fill their 15th roster spot, Neemias Queta would be a good fit. The Sacramento Kings recently waived the 7-foot center due to an abundance of big men on their roster, which includes Domantas Sabonis, JaVale McGee, and Alex Len.

During his two years in the NBA, Queta played 20 games for the Kings. One memorable performance came against the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 10th, 2022, when he registered 11 points and five rebounds over 24 minutes.

Queta proved to be a dominant force for the Stockton Kings, Sacramento's G League affiliate.

Last season, Queta finished as the runner-up in G League MVP voting, and he earned a G League First Team selection and G League All-Defensive Team selection. This was done on averages of 16.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game while shooting 68-percent from the field.

Despite having a surplus of talent, the Celtics are vulnerable at the center position. The 37-year-old Al Horford is reaching the twilight of his career, and both Kristaps Porzingis and Robert Williams III have a history of injury-proneness.

The 24-year-old Queta is a contract-friendly player with a tremendous upside, which is ideal for a championship-contending franchise looking to plant seeds for the future. The expectations would be to focus on his long-term growth while utilizing him as a substitute if injuries arise.

Unlike other remaining free agents, such as Blake Griffin and Nerlens Noel, Queta has yet to reach his ceiling. Overall, signing the Portuguese player would be a low-risk, high-reward situation.
