As the Celtics try to improve to 3-1 on their six-game road trip, they may have to attempt to do so without three starters.

Robert Williams remains out due to a left hamstring strain. The Timelord has missed Boston's last six contests after suffering the injury the night the defending Eastern Conference champions blew a 28-point lead against the Nets.

Ahead of the Celtics' win against the Timberwolves on Wednesday, head coach Joe Mazzulla said he's hopeful Williams is back "in the next week or so."

While Williams is definitively out for Friday's tilt against the Trail Blazers, Jayson Tatum remains listed as questionable on Boston's injury report.

The four-time All-Star is dealing with a left hip contusion from a hard fall after meeting Rudy Gobert at the rim.

After the game, Tatum conveyed, "came down, fell right on my hip. Pretty sore. Nothing crazy, but just got to monitor it, keep icing it, things like that."

As Friday night's tip-off inches closer, Boston's added starting point guard Marcus Smart to its injury report. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year has a non-Covid illness. He's considered questionable for the matchup.

Malcolm Brogdon is also on the injury report now. The Celtics' sixth man is dealing with right Achilles soreness. Fortunately for the visitors, Brogdon's listed as probable to play.

Along with Danilo Gallinari, Boston has already ruled out Oregon native Payton Pritchard due to left heel pain. Pritchard's missed the last four games.

Tip-off between the Celtics and Trail Blazers is at 10 pm EST. Inside The Celtics will have content related to the game before, during, and afterward. And follow @BobbyKrivitsky on Twitter for updates and analysis from pregame to post.

Update: Per the Celtics, Jayson Tatum, who said at shoot around he intends to play, and Marcus Smart are available. Malcolm Brogdon is out for Friday's game in Portland.
